CROWN THINNING
Crown thinning is the removal of a portion of branches, to produce a uniform density of foliage around an evenly spaced branch structure. Crown thinning does not alter the overall size or shape of the tree. Common reasons for crown thinning are to allow more light to pass through the tree, reduce wind resistance, and reduce weight.
CROWN LIFTING
Crown lifting involves pruning to achieve a desired clearance above ground level or other surface. Good practice dictates crown lifting should not normally include the removal of large branches from the trunk as this can cause large wounds which can become extensively decayed leading to further long term problems.
POLLARDING/RE-POLLARDING
An ancient management pruning technique used to keep trees to a desired size or to encourage multi-stem growth. Once started, it should be repeated on a cyclical basis always retaining the initial pollard point.
In addition to the above services, we also offer branch or stem removal, deadwood removal, stump grinding, mulching and hedge cutting, as well as protected tree works and tree surveys and guidance.
